In Studio 1, we were asked to start the Design Process by programming our primary and secondary places. A primary space is where a person spends most of their time, which is their home. A secondary space is where a person spends a lot of time at, but is not their home, ie. school or work. There is also a third place where people spend their time, which could include a coffee shop, a bar, or even a movie theater. For this assignment, we were only asked to program our first and second places. Programming is the first step in the Design Process that involves gathering information and analyzing it. This includes making a list of everything in the space, making an adjacency matrix, a bubble diagram, and a block diagram. All of these diagrams show how everything in the space is related. Below, I have made two programming examples; one is of my primary place and the other is my secondary place.

FURNITURE DRAWING EXERCISE

This is my lovely, lovely desk. I drew my desk from an angle. I do realize it is not perfect... Anyways, overall I think it looks good. I've got my desk, a plant, the wall/ baseboards, and a picture above my desk. Usually there are more items on my desk but I simplified it for the purpose of this drawing. Additionally, I put the same flowers on my white board as in the tracings, instead of what was actually there.
